After an early pitch inspection, Newcastle welcomed Newport to the valley for the first time this year. The weather was bitter, but thankfully dry. The parents layered up and adopted their positions on the side line for a 2 x 20 game. It was tough going for both teams, the ground was cold as was the air, which affected the flow of the game. It was a pretty even game, with Newport shading it due to some good performances by their stand out players. The game was played to the core values, and both teams enjoyed the competitvness of the fixture. The parents were pleased that an extra 10 minute game at the end was added..

Player of the week was Alfie for a great all round rugby performance. Tyler was on fire and drove through a wall of opponents for a great individual try. Ben Shirley appeared all over the pitch, and put a lot of miles in.
